So i guess it's been a while. I've acquired so many sites I can't keep track: myspace, facebook, blogger, byu, email. Anyhow, since it is a slow night I thought it'd be a great opportunity to catch ya'll up on my life as a california high schooler. So I had a fabulous birthday party a few weeks ago. It was held at a small, quaint bowling alley in the city of Montrose. It had eight lanes and was the perfect size.
Among the V.I.P. attending were the Jeremy West family [Always a pleasure], about 50 friends from church and school, and some stragglers who just found their way to the bowling ally that night. =) I wish everyone could of been there but you can just observe some of the pictures and pretend. And just a little side, I have a question for all ya'll out there. Maybe I'm just old fashioned but I thought that on my birthday I was supposed to be the star...?
Next on the agenda, Youth Day. For those of you reading my blog who did not attend a catholic high school, it is basically a big catholic teen gathering at the Anaheim convention center. There are about 5000 teenagers there every year. Yes, three zeros. Anyhow, I've been attending for the last three years and I do enjoy it a lot.
There was a great speaker there named Jason Evert and he spoke about chastity and modesty and all that stuff. Nothing I didn't already know, but it's nice to witness someone of another faith addressing the subject. He also referenced a couple of teenage girls who wrote a department store demanding modest prom dresses and how they ended up working for the store to help with the modesty issue. If you didn't know already, they're Mormon. Amazing that it had such a big impact that it even reached outsiders.
Last but not least, ward talent show! That happened this saturday. It was a fabulous event filled with 20 something acts. Needless to say, some were much better than others, but I do commend everyone for getting up there. =) Doug solved his rubik's cube, my sunday school teacher performed on his guitar, and six lovely young women from the ward put together a tapping, clogging number. So here are the highlights, enjoy!
Background on this song: My sunday school teacher and his friends used to go to the Shell station everyday during their college days and bought Henry Weinhart's root beer [can i get a spell check on weinhart?] Anyhow, one day, they went to the shell station and there was no more root beer to be found. And in the words of Ben Hill, " So I went home that day and wrote a sad song about it."
And this is the oh so cute tapping/clogging number. It was a perfect finale!

I loved the tapping/clogging number! Although, after the first 15 seconds the picture stopped moving. Sad. I'll have to try to watch it tomorrow when the computer has just been turned on. I can't believe I missed David A today. Bummer. I love you. Mwah!
I called Michi to compliment her on her cute shirt because I'm wearing the exact same one! Then she told me that it was actually yours. I bought mine today. Great minds think alike. Do you think we should go shopping dressed alike? :)
Ie Li - Jeremy, Ie Ling, Maika, Kai, and I all went to the mall one day dressed a like. We thought it would be really funny, but it was just embarassing. :) I wouldn't recommend it!
Ie Ling - I do apologize for my little ham. That picture cracks me up! Who DOES he think he is?! Thanks for inviting us to your partay, good times . . .
ie li- that is soooo funny! cuz i dont know if you remember but before i came out to DC i told you about this shirt i just bought that i thought you'd really like and i was talking about that shirt. haha. and yes, great minds do think alike. =) love you!
Michi, I remember you telling me that story about how you all went to the mall matching. It makes me laugh.
Loved the post Ie Ling. Kai is such a little ladies' man. I think Lance and Kai have a lot in common. I'm glad I got to watch the talent show too. That was good entertainment. Who were those ladies?
