My only occupation right now is school. This summer I've realized that without school I get bored very easily. I'm extremely anxious to get back to Provo. My friend said that he was going to be in the library a lot doing some research for some essays. I told him that I wished I had a reason to be in the library and that I wished I had homework to do or a test to study for...whaaaat?
I can't believe my fingers actually typed that out. I don't know that I've ever said that. I'm sure once school starts I'll have plenty of homework to do and lots of tests to study for and I'll hate it, but I guess I asked for it and hopefully this post will remind me that it's good to be busy.
And for that matter, the only reason I'm bored is because I haven't been doing anything productive. I've been quite lazy, actually. So, as I finish out the last few weeks of summer, I'm going to make sure I make every day a good one. This quote from Anne Shirley will serve as my motto: "Tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes in it."

Virginia is for Lovers: Day Eight
I have officially been in Virginia for one week now and it's been so much fun. I've got family, friends, and beautiful green countryside. What more could a girl ask for?
Today we made a trip to Costco for some essentials like Dannon Light & Fit. I've never been a huge yogurt fan, but I do love their vanilla flavor. But, I'm pretty sure we get it because Steven LOVES yogurt. Today I'm pretty sure I saw him down one whole yogurt cup for breakfast and 3 full bowls of Greek yogurt mixed with honey later on in the day. He's a yogurt fiend as Ie Li put it.
It was another extremely hot day. Jonathan, Mei Li and I watched a bit of Anne of Avonlea and then when Stephen woke up we attempted to go to the park. Bad idea. We got there and I said, "Ok kids, you have ten minutes and then we have to go home." We did just that.
Barrett came to pick me up around 6 so we could spend the evening in Purcellville. We arrived at his house and I met Brother and Sister Johnson while they were getting ready for dinner. They are both lovely people. Barrett gave me the tour of both the inside and the outside of the house and it is simply beautiful there.
I met Barrett's little sister, Lauren, when she came for dinner. She was super nice and cute. Dinner was splendid and then Barrett, Lauren, and I took off for downtown Purcellville to get some ice cream. On our way there, Barrett pointed out a place called Field of Flowers where you can go and cut your own flowers to take home! I'm determined to go with Ie Li and Mei Li before my trip is over. We arrived at Gruto's and I noticed their funny hours:

That whole town is just so picturesque. I can't handle the cuteness. We took our ice cream to go and watched the sun as it set over Franklin Park. It was spectacular.
We headed back to the Johnson's and the whole time we were driving I just kept thinking that one day I need to live in Purcellville, and if that's not possible, somewhere in the country because it's just too beautiful to not have in my everyday life. We sat outside for a little while and watched the fireflies roam through the fields and the trees. It was a gorgeous sight. I even caught a couple and one lit up in my hand. Special.

Brother Johnson and Barrett drove me home to Ashburn, where I recorded a glorious account of my adventures in Purcellville.

Virginia is for Lovers: Day Four
Today wasn't necessarily eventful, but I just had the most fabulous day. We didn't have too much planned, so we mostly played with the little children and helped Ie Li and Steve get more settled into their new house. I found Jonathan in the basement watching my favorite movie. And for those of you who don't know me very well, that is Anne of Green Gables. Some of you may remember when I was lucky enough to meet "Anne with an E".
There is just something beautiful about that movie. I think I could watch it everyday and not get sick of it. I love Anne's quirkiness and Gilbert's charm. They are perfect. I can't get through it without shedding just a couple happy tears for them.
The next highlight of the day was getting to put a bow on Mi Na's pretty little head. Seriously, is there anything cuter than this:

We ate at Carolina Brothers for dinner and had BBQ pork sandwiches and baked beans. They were good, but I wasn't blown away. They did, however, have my favorite kind of ice. That maybe made our $12 dinner all worth it.
Jonathan and I started watching Center Stage and Ie Li joined us soon after. Despite the horrifically cheesy lines and bad acting, I love watching this movie. Maybe it's because of the awesome dancing, or the way that Jonathan, Ie Li, and I burst into song when we hear Mandy Moore's, I Wanna be With You in the background. Either way, it was a lovely evening with my siblings.
Tomorrow we will be united with our beautiful sister, Ie Mei and her family. It'll be fun to have four Wests under the same roof this weekend. I'm hoping that this 4th of July weekend will be filled with fun and laughter and that I'll have lots of good things to report on.

an unusual but fabulous weekend.
so, this weekend started off like any other. hanging out with friends. I invited my friend Lauren Hogue to come over on Friday and have a sleepover with me. So I was asking her if she wanted to watch a movie, and I pulled out Anne of Green Gables, one of my all time favorites, and asked if she had ever seen it. She replied, "That's funny you should ask because the actress in that movie is coming over to my house on sunday for tea." I was in complete shock. I mean, it had to be a joke. How coincidental is that?! I just didn't have words. I was so jealous and I told her she was sooo lucky. Anyway, we had a sleepover with Cassie and then she left around 1:00 on Saturday. Five minutes after she left, she called me and said, "Hey! So, I just told my dad about how you love Anne of Green Gables and he said that if you want, you can come over on Sunday to meet her. And you can bring your dvd and she'll sign it for you." I think i literally jumped for joy.
So today is Sunday and guess what I did. I had tea with Megan Follows, Anne with an "e." She is a very nice person; very down-to-earth. She has two kids, 16 and 14; a girl and a boy, respectively, and she drives a mini-van. I must admit that I was hoping to meet Anne Shirley, but Megan Follows is great too. She is actually quite different than Anne. She is much older now, but when she smiles, I can see that young girl who played Anne. So to all my fellow Anne fans, here are a couple pictures. =)
